Asian low-cost carrier AirAsia was awarded the Skytrax World's Best Low-Cost Airline Award at the Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony held yesterday (17th) at the Langham Hotel in London. This is also the tenth consecutive year that AirAsia has won this award. Meanwhile, AirAsia X, the airline’s long-haul division, has also won the “World's Best Low-Cost Airline Premium Cabin” award for the sixth consecutive year. The Skytrax World Airline Awards are known as the “Oscars of the aviation industry.” To celebrate its ten consecutive victories, AirAsia will launch a ticket promotion campaign from July 23rd to July 29th.
AirAsia has won the Skytrax World's Best Low-Cost Airline Award for ten consecutive years.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are based on surveys of over 20.36 million passengers from 105 nationalities around the world and evaluate the quality of airlines’ products and services through 49 key performance indicators. Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Group CEO of AirAsia X, said: “I am very happy to receive this ten-year consecutive award together with our senior staff—it feels like a dream to me. I still remember the excitement when we first won this award 10 years ago. Back then, we never imagined we would maintain such excellent results for 10 consecutive years. Thank you to all our passengers for your tremendous support. We will continue to offer low-fare flights and hope to positively impact more lives through air travel.”

Additionally, celebrations will be held at AirAsia’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur as well as its branches in Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Bangalore, and Nagoya. A special one-hour live broadcast will also be aired on AirAsia’s official fan pages. Meanwhile, from now until July 22nd, major hub airports under AirAsia—including Kuala Lumpur’s Second International Airport, Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport, and Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport—will also host celebratory events.
