What kind of brilliant sparks will be created when thin-film power generation products meet “electricity experts”? On the afternoon of March 27, the promotional event for the “Global Thin-Film Power Generation Product Innovation Competition – China Region · Northeast Electric Power University Stop,” hosted by Hanergy Thin Film Power Group, the world’s leading solar thin-film power generation company, arrived at Northeast Electric Power University, a university known for its electrical engineering program. It ignited a wave of mobile clean energy enthusiasm in the still-chilly northeast region. Designboom provided full coverage and reporting of this event.

It is reported that solar energy resources shining on Earth are extremely abundant. About 40 minutes of solar radiation on Earth is enough to meet the annual energy consumption of the entire global population. It can be said that solar energy is truly an inexhaustible and renewable resource. Moreover, solar power generation is absolutely clean, producing no public hazards, and is hailed as one of the most ideal new energy sources. Solar power generation is a device that directly converts solar energy into electricity using solar cells and modules. Solar modules are solid-state devices that achieve photoelectric conversion by utilizing the electronic properties of semiconductor materials. In areas with widespread electricity difficulties, these devices can conveniently provide lighting and daily power for users, and in some developed countries, they can also be integrated with regional power grids to achieve complementary benefits.

Thin-film power generation technology can be applied in fields such as building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), solar-powered vehicles, ground-mounted power stations, photovoltaic agricultural greenhouses, and solar chargers, demonstrating an extremely broad market prospect. In addition, the thin-film power generation industry has strong driving capabilities and is of great significance to China’s stable economic growth and structural adjustment. First, among the seven major strategic emerging industries in China, five involve thin-film power generation and can also drive 85 related industries including glass, steel, plastics, and logistics. Second, it contributes to promoting energy conservation, emission reduction, and industrial transformation. With households generating and using their own power, investment is transformed into consumption, which can stimulate domestic demand and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Clean production and green consumption will promote industrial transformation and upgrading. Third, it helps ensure national energy independence and security, advancing China’s leadership in the Third Industrial Revolution.

The promotional event, themed “‘Source’ Comes from This,” was attended by Wang Xiku, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Northeast Electric Power University; Jia Yuzhuo, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering; Sun Yang, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering; Zhang Aiping, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Energy and Power Engineering; Pang Shaojie, Vice Dean of the School of Art; Zhou Jun, Deputy Director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Electric Power Engineering Experimental Teaching Center; and Xu Ying, Deputy Director of the Beijing Solar Power Research Institute.
