Another sea of flowers to discover: Admire romantic cosmos by taking the MRT

Recently, cherry blossoms have been in full bloom, attracting many travelers chasing picture-perfect pink blooms. But aside from cherry blossoms, there’s also a vast sea of cosmos flowers to enjoy. Next to the bicycle rental station at the Xinzhuang end of the Xinyue Bridge, one hectare of cosmos has begun to burst into stunning bloom, displaying a vibrant and graceful beauty that makes it another go-to flower-viewing spot.

The New Taipei High Polder is the largest riverside park in northern Taiwan and a great place to relax by bike on weekends. Each year, it features 2–3 waves of colorful flower sea landscapes, drawing many visitors for photos. This year, the first grand display is the cosmos flower sea. Watching the dancing, wind-swaying flower sprites is incredibly soothing.

Cosmos, also known as Cosmos bipinnatus or Mexican aster, is an annual herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family and a widely cultivated garden flower used for cut flowers and dried floral arrangements. It's perfect for flower borders, flower stands, and background floral displays. Due to its strong reproductive ability, it often grows in clusters, forming vast seas of blooms. Flower colors include white, red, pink, purple, and more, and in warm regions, it can bloom from autumn through the following spring.

You don’t need to travel far or go deep into the countryside to enjoy the flower sea—just take the MRT to Xinzhuang Station on the Xinzhuang-Luzhou Line, walk to the square near the Xinzhuang end of the Xinyue Bridge, and you can experience the majestic cosmos flower sea. And these cosmos flowers will continue blooming in the future, expected to be at their peak around mid-February.

In addition, there’s a bicycle rental service under the Xinyue Bridge plaza where you can cycle while admiring the flower sea scenery. At night, the illuminated Xinyue Bridge becomes a focal point for nighttime photography with its dazzling multicolored lights.
