From May 1st to 2nd, 2015, the 11th China·Mojiang International Twins Festival & Hani Sun Festival will be held as scheduled in Mojiang County. The event includes a charity gala for the Child Bird Fund, the Twins Star Talent Competition, a grand parade of a thousand twin pairs, the Hani Face-Smearing Carnival, the Hani Finger-Guessing Game Competition, the Hani Long Street Banquet, twin meet-ups, matchmaking for twins, the mysterious Hani wedding on the Tropic of Cancer, the Twins’ Smile Contest, and classic Hani folk activities. These events collectively showcase the geographical and cultural uniqueness of Mojiang. With the theme “The Enchanting Charm of the Hani People and the Return of Kinship: Twins Reunite in A’mo River,” the festival highlights the charm of twins, displays the wonder of twin phenomena, and offers visitors an immersive experience of Hani culture. This year, the Mojiang International Twins Association will collaborate with Kunming Child Bird Hospital to invite 100 families hoping to have twins to embark on a “Twins Exploration Journey.” For the first time, the high rate of twin births in Mojiang will be scientifically studied on a large scale, with extensive sampling and systematic interpretation.

The festival’s image ambassadors are a pair of local twin sisters from Mojiang (Luo Qilan and Luo Qiqi), and thousands of twin friends from around the world—of different ethnicities including Black, White, and Asian—will gather in Mojiang to celebrate this grand twin event together.

Meanwhile, using the China·Mojiang International Twins Festival & Hani Sun Festival as a springboard, Mojiang County will also organize a series of annual cultural tourism events in the second half of the year, such as the Summer Solstice Solar Pole Shadow-less Science Popularization Activity, the Tropic of Cancer River Fishing Competition, the Tropic of Cancer Mountain Biking Challenge, and the Winter Solstice Food Street. Visitors can also explore towns and villages to experience Hani customs, admire beautiful landscapes, savor distinctive cuisine, and enjoy wellness retreats.
Currently, leveraging the promotional impact of the Twins Festival, Mojiang County is integrating the area’s resource advantages, enhancing infrastructure construction, improving the cultural tourism environment, and elevating the brand of festival culture. It is gradually developing Mojiang into an approachable, leisure-oriented, vacation, health, and wellness tourism destination that is international, annual, recreational, fun, and participatory.
