A House Full of Desserts is both a sentence, an adjective, and the name of this shop, nestled in the alleys of Chiayi. From the outside, it’s a side Japanese-style old house, formerly the site of the Yongcheng Printing Factory. The combination of a Japanese wooden old house and Western-style handmade desserts has made this “A House Full of Desserts” a top pick on the dessert hit list for locals.

The shop insists on offering a limited number of cakes each day, so once they’re sold out, they’re gone. Thanks to the use of quality ingredients, creative flavors, and growing word-of-mouth along with online exposure, the desserts here are always in high demand.

The old house was once a printing factory, and the third-generation owner once lamented online about the difficulty of maintaining the old place and wanted to rent it out. It happened to catch the eye of a pastry chef who wanted to return to Chiayi to live and work well—thus, today’s “A House Full of Desserts” was born.

The shop retains the original wooden beams and red brick walls of the old house, as well as the original signage and printing presses from the printing factory, which are displayed as decorations. The renovated areas, paired with uniquely styled wooden furniture, blend with the aroma of cakes and coffee, plus the ambiance of mood music, making it a perfect spot to spend a whole afternoon.

All the desserts in the shop are the crystallization of the owner’s love.

The owner’s philosophy is to use fresh, high-quality ingredients, so depending on when you visit, you can enjoy products made with seasonal fruits that are in abundance. Not only do they suit the season, but they also let you taste the most direct flavors of the time.
