The expert meeting held on February 1 discussed measures related to incoming travelers and concluded that Guangdong Province should be listed as a Level 2 epidemic area. The classification of China’s epidemic areas into two levels is as follows:

Level 1 Epidemic Area: Indicates that there is clear and uncontrolled community transmission in the area. Currently, Hubei Province is listed.
Level 2 Epidemic Area: Indicates suspected community transmission in the area. Those with relevant travel history should be subject to home quarantine. Starting February 2, Guangdong Province will be classified as Level 2. Mainland Chinese nationals residing in Guangdong are prohibited from entering; those entering via the Mini Three Links will be subject to a mandatory 14-day home quarantine starting February 2.

As the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Guangdong Province, mainland China, has continued to rise to 520 recently, with cases occurring in over 90% of second-level administrative regions, and more than 15% of cases having no travel history in Hubei, along with evidence of community transmission such as multiple cluster incidents and cases exported to other regions. Considering also the close weekly air travel between our country and Guangdong, it has been resolved to classify the province as a Level 2 epidemic area starting February 2.
Meanwhile, masks for epidemic prevention remain in high demand. Domestic experts have advised that healthy individuals and general students do not need to wear masks, and wearing masks is still not required for attending school. To ensure emergency use of masks for young children with respiratory symptoms in kindergartens, relevant ministries have coordinated the requisition of children's masks today to serve as reserve supplies for kindergartens.
The Central Epidemic Command Center once again urges that there is currently no community transmission within the country, and there is no need for panic or mask hoarding. It has instructed the Ministry of Health and Welfare to fully requisition the production of general medical masks and surgical masks by domestic mask factories from January 31 to February 15. All are qualified mask manufacturers. Additionally, coordination with relevant ministries has been carried out regarding alcohol to ensure sufficient supply in the market.
When entering the country from abroad, if you have symptoms such as fever or cough, you should proactively report to airport and port quarantine personnel. If any of the above suspected symptoms occur within 14 days of returning to the country, you can call the toll-free epidemic prevention hotline 1922 and follow instructions to wear a mask and seek medical attention promptly. Be sure to inform the doctor of your travel history, occupation, contact history, and whether there was any group exposure (TOCC).
