The growth of China's mobile phone industry can be described as flourishing, with various brands launching one flagship model after another. As competition intensifies in niche segments, phones featuring superior sound quality, photography capabilities, and ultra-slim designs continue to emerge. This year, an outdoor phone brand focusing on extreme six-proof protection —CloudFox Era— is gradually becoming known to consumers and has secured a significant position in the outdoor market. Against this backdrop, Green Field Network interviewed Mr. Dong Defu, Chairman of CloudFox.
1. In joint activities with Green Field Outdoor Network such as the recent photography contest and gear review competition, CloudFox’s product series received an overwhelmingly positive response from users. This shows that CloudFox is truly dedicated to meeting user needs. In this era of personalization, what kind of innovations can we expect from CloudFox’s future products?
The activity formats CloudFox has collaborated on with Green Field Network, such as the photography contest, are excellent and should definitely continue. There will be a major new product giveaway event in the second half of the year, which we can collaborate on further. We’ve also launched a new action camera that could be featured in skiing events.
Moving forward, we will release the Diandian phone, an ultra-slim, stylish, three-proof smartphone, as well as smart wearable devices. This fashionable, ultra-slim, three-proof phone has gone through6generations of R&D to achieve an ultra-slim form factor,1.5meters of water resistance and dustproofing, and will also be very affordably priced.
2. Currently, many brands are promoting wearable products. What is your view on this market, and what are your plans?
Our future products within the CloudFox series will focus on two aspects: first, stylish three-proof phones; and second, a new generation of professional three-proof phones with built-in two-way radios. These professional models come with antennas and offer walkie-talkie functionality, enabling5kilometer communication.
To tap into the sports market, wearable devices are essential. Our wearable lineup includes action cameras, smartwatches, smart bracelets, smart wrist guards, and smart knee pads. For example, our smart knee pads can be used in soccer to better monitor athletic performance.
3. To complement the value of our hardware and promote the concept of active living, CloudFox has launched several sports and health-focusedAPPproducts. As far as I know, your goal is tobuild an integrated software-and-hardware sports community. What are CloudFox’s plans and actions in this regard for this year?
CloudFox Diandian Sports is China’s largest internet-based sports cloud platform and developer of smart sports equipment. The sports ecosystem consists of the Diandian Sports platform and Diandian smart sports gear. With the Diandian Sports platform at its core, sub-platforms include Diandian Running, Diandian Photo, Diandian Football, and Diandian Services. Data is synchronized between main and sub-platforms under unified operation, providing users with services for sports, socializing, finding partners, sharing experiences, as well as health monitoring and wellness services. Our goal is to inspire users to achieve their fitness goals through CloudFox Diandian, and to help them manage their workouts more effectively using wearable devices. After launching our smart wrist guards and knee pads, we’re even more aligned with the sports market. While smartwatches and bracelets still cater to a more conceptual sports market and aren’t practical for actual sports use, the real sports market involves gear that’s used during activities. Action cameras, for instance, are definitely used while exercising. Our next goal is to develop more sports products tailored for specific athletic scenarios.
4. Although our products feature leading extreme protection capabilities, CloudFox phones are priced higher compared to other products. What was your pricing strategy at the outset? Have you considered launching more affordable three-proof phones for the general consumer market?
We will continue to pursue premium positioning in the professional three-proof segment, developing specialized phones for niche, high-end users. These phones may not have mass appeal, but they serve unique user needs.
For the general three-proof market, we aim to reach the broader public with prices around1-3k.
5. What kinds of outdoor activities do you enjoy in your daily life, and how have your own products changed your lifestyle?
I usually go running, hiking, and play golf.
I run about once a week,40-50minutes each time.
Soon, we’ll launch a “Fox Talks Sports” column, inviting outdoor experts to discuss various sports topics. It will initially be featured on Diandian Sports and will also be part of Diandian Photo. We’re building a comprehensive sports ecosystem — integrating hardware and software. Without an ecosystem, it just won’t work.
