Typhoon No. 28 may form; eastern regions to see more rain, temperatures to drop again

A stationary front extends from Fujian southwestward to Guangxi, while a high-pressure system is over the Anhui region, moving eastward; meanwhile, a tropical depression is located in the offshore waters southeast of Palau, moving westward at 15 km/h, with potential to develop into a mild typhoon.

On Monday morning, the 19th, as the frontal system passes and the northeast monsoon strengthens, northern and northeastern Taiwan, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will experience brief showers, with scattered showers also likely in eastern, southeastern, central, and mountainous southern areas.

Due to the strengthened northeast monsoon, the weather in the north and northeast will be slightly cooler, with temperatures around 21–23°C; temperatures in central and southern Taiwan will be higher, ranging between 22–28°C. By Thursday, temperatures across Taiwan will drop by another 1–2°C, with rainfall gradually easing starting Friday in previously affected areas.
