Spring outing destination added again – tired of cherry blossoms and deciduous cypresses? The Tropical Agriculture Expo in Pingtung kicks off on January 29, offering a fresh choice for your holiday getaway. Beyond a variety of fun activities, visitors can enjoy breathtaking flower seas and spectacular rice field art.

This year’s Pingtung Tropical Agriculture Expo opened on January 29. In response to the 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival being held in Pingtung, it has introduced even more exciting themed highlights, expanding from 18 theme zones last year to 27 this year.

This year's expo features agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and leisure tourism, including a tropical fruit garden, spring flower sea, rose garden, agricultural experience area, Orchid Sea Pavilion, indigenous specialty farming zone, Doggy Green Playground, and Taiwan’s longest green corridor at 1,600 meters.

This year, in line with the Year of the Pig and the lantern festival, local Rukai artists were invited to design the rice field art, featuring double pig lanterns and indigenous hundred-pace viper patterns, aiming to showcase the soft power of Pingtung’s local small-scale farmers.
