Authentic cuisine & hands-on experiences – deep town travel is super fun

In recent years, domestic travel has become increasingly frequent, but people are no longer content with just skimming the surface. To this end, the New Taipei City Government has promoted town-based tourism, hoping to bring more positive impact to the tourism industry.

Currently, the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has partnered with domestic travel agencies to launch a light in-depth travel series themed around towns in the first half of the year, aiming to help travelers go beyond just sightseeing and enjoy a more immersive and refined experience.

In this way, not only does the quality of travel improve, but local residents also benefit from more diverse income streams – such as authentic fishermen’s dishes, fresh produce, and unique handicrafts. Travelers can even stay for one or two nights to take part in exciting activities like snorkeling, fruit picking, and harvesting.

Better yet, wake up early and visit the local morning market to buy the freshest seafood and crops, or take the time to learn about the area’s unique history, culture, and customs, experiencing the local life from an insider's perspective.

Take the North Coast, for example – its naturally blessed mountain and sea scenery is unparalleled. Whether it’s Shimen, Jinshan, Jiufen, or Jinguashi, aside from the natural landscapes gifted by nature, charming guesthouses, lively markets, traditional specialties, and local stories are all major draws that attract visitors.
