In the qualifiers on the 4th, Canadian athlete Maximus Dood scored high with his Backside Triple Cork 1440 Mute move, temporarily ranking first. Chinese athlete Xiaohu (He Wei), despite giving his all, failed to advance to the top 16 due to a mistake.
The one-on-one elimination matches on the 5th were even more intense, divided into three rounds: 16 to 8, 8 to 4, and the super final. In the first two rounds, athletes competed one-on-one with three jumps each, and the sum of their two best scores determined who advanced, with the top four moving on to the super final. The electrifying music at the Bird’s Nest and the audience's enthusiasm pushed the athletes to their limits. Sixteen top snowboarders went all out to compete for the Honor Ring of Air&Style, pulling off impressive tricks. Canadian Maximus Dood carried the momentum from the qualifiers, scoring 182.99 points to win the 2015 Air&Style Champion’s Ring.
"I've been competing in the Beijing stop of Air&Style for three or four years now, and I'm thrilled to finally make it to the podium today. The finals were incredibly competitive, and tonight felt amazing," Maximus said excitedly at the post-event press conference. He also shared that another highlight was landing the Frontside Triple Cork 1440 Mute for the first time in an official competition. He attempted to challenge Yuki Kadono's best trick but didn’t succeed and pledged to keep working hard.

Canadian Mark scored 178.32 points to take second place. He said, "The start of today's competition was beautiful. Making it to the finals was a very important step for me. I kept putting pressure on myself during the event. I made a mistake on my first jump in the finals, but I quickly adjusted and was really happy to complete my last two jumps well and secure second place."
Swedish athlete Sven scored 164.32 points to take third. He had been concerned about a shoulder injury before the competition but was fortunate that it didn’t affect his performance. "At one point during the competition, I lost focus, which led to a mistake on my second jump, but overall, the result was great, and I’m satisfied with my performance."
Japanese athlete Yuki Kadono earned the highest score of the day, 95.66, with his ultra-difficult Backside Triple Cork 1620 mute move, winning the "Red Bull Best Trick Award." He thoroughly enjoyed competing at the Bird’s Nest, saying the electric atmosphere and support from the crowd gave him great motivation to successfully land the difficult trick. He also mentioned this wasn’t his limit, having previously landed the Switch Backside Triple Cork 1620, an even harder trick.
2014 Air&Style champion Øystein Bråten was eliminated in the quarterfinals due to an injury sustained in the qualifiers. The Norwegian snowboarder, who has been riding since age seven and practices almost daily, was competing in his fourth Air&Style Beijing event. Bråten hopes to qualify for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics but admits it’s a real challenge. "There are so many talented skiers in Norway, and each country only has four spots."

Chinese star Xiaohu, who was unfortunately eliminated on the first day, also attended the event. Though he didn’t make the top 16, he remains confident about his future career: "I didn’t get much jump training before this competition. The Chinese snow season just started, so it was tough to find my form right away. If I get the chance, I’ll train hard and hope to compete in the 2018 Olympics."
As Air&Style wraps up, the winter sports season is hitting its peak. As a flagship event leading the trend of extreme fashion in the winter sports season, the 14th Red Bull Nanshan Open is scheduled to kick off in mid-January 2016, providing more Chinese snowboarders with a stage to unleash their energy on the snow.
