A must-visit light village: romantic lanterns & giant Pokémon for the perfect photo

Situated in Pingtung City, “Victory Star Village” began its transformation into a creative lifestyle district in 2018, combining history with innovation to establish a venue that’s both imaginative and steeped in historical and cultural meaning. It was also one of the illuminated zones during the 2019 Taiwan Lantern Festival, where lantern displays were integrated with military dependents' village architecture to create a stunning “Light Village.”

Originally named “Victory New Village,” it was once the residential area for military officers during the Japanese colonial period. After the Nationalist government relocated to Taiwan, it became housing for Pingtung-based army personnel and commanders, boasting around 80 years of history and is registered as a historic building. Victory Star Village consists of 70 well-preserved historic structures. In 2018, it was renamed the “Victory Star Village Creative Lifestyle District.” The main visual identity of the district uses illustrations to showcase the architectural features of the military dependents’ village and elements of southern Taiwanese life, merging history with innovation to create a fresh and diverse atmosphere.

Today, in addition to preserving some historical relics, Victory Star Village is also home to numerous dining spots, bookstores, and cultural and creative workshops.The entire military village district is filled with a lively and creative atmosphere.It attracts both local residents and tourists to visit.
