Make a splash at the beach during the Qingming holiday break — get an early look at the Fulong Sand Sculpture Festival for Children's Day

Every year, the Fulong Sand Sculpture Art Festival is a major summer highlight, and this year marks its 12th edition. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has launched an early preview for Children's Day during the Qingming holiday break.

The early preview of the Children’s Day sand sculptures allows travelers to view six exquisite and complete works, as well as watch the sculptors in action. Children under the age of 12 can enter for free with valid ID, while visitors aged 12 and above only need to pay NT$40 for admission.

The 2019 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival runs from April 19 to August 25, spanning a total of 128 days. This year’s theme is “Traversing the Town in Search of Atlantis.”

In recent years, marine ecological conservation has become a topic of great public concern. The sand sculpture festival aims to combine sand art with marine waste materials, using artistic expression to raise awareness about ocean preservation.

A total of 27 sand sculpture artists are participating in this year’s event, presenting 25 themed works along with 20 sets of smaller interactive sand sculptures.
