Japanese budget beef bowl chain "Matsuya," officially launched its first Taiwan store at the end of September 2018. Half a year later, it announced the opening of its second store, located in Taipei’s Ximending shopping district!

Taiwan’s Matsuya recently posted job openings for the “Taipei Ximending Store” on a job search website. In addition to day and evening shifts, night shifts have also been added. Therefore, it is expected that the operating hours of the second store may extend into the late night, offering a late-night menu and giving Taipei’s night owls another great affordable option.

In Japan, Matsuya is a 24-hour restaurant, with its menu featuring various rice bowls, curries, and grilled meat set meals. It offers filling meals at reasonable prices, making it great value for money and a popular late-night dining choice for many travelers in Japan. Taiwan’s Matsuya offers its cheapest dish, a beef bowl, for just NT$69—even cheaper than the local price in Japan. When the first store opened, it attracted many foodies, with some waiting up to 30 minutes just to be seated. Now, with the upcoming opening of the second store, it is expected that there will be another long queue when the new branch debuts.
