The coastline is lined with many super cute pig basket boats.
Located about a 4.5-hour drive east of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Mui Ne is a seaside town that was once a small fishing village primarily known for selling large quantities of fresh seafood. Today, it has become a top holiday destination for foreign travelers visiting Vietnam.

The farther away from the coast, the larger the boats get.
At Mui Ne Fishing Port, because the coast is entirely sandy, even small boats avoid coming ashore to prevent running aground. Fishermen moor their boats offshore and use bamboo basket boats—also called “pig basket boats”—woven from bamboo to travel between the sea and the shore.

The nimble pig basket boats shuttle back and forth between the boats and the shore, offering great convenience.
Fishermen use the pig basket boats to transport seafood from the boats to the shore for sale. Since the boats are small, a single person can operate them with a single oar—making them convenient, fast, and low-cost.

Once the seafood is delivered to the shore, it can be purchased on the spot, ensuring maximum freshness.
The road along the fishing port serves as the main thoroughfare for the fishing village. It’s lined with various shops and accommodations, where travelers can enjoy the fun of buying fresh seafood, sample authentic traditional dishes, and take in the beautiful scenery of Mui Ne’s fishing village.
