Sanya, ChinaJune 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 1, the Korean restaurant Woori Mountain, located in the east wing of the Sanya Shanhai Tian Marriott Hotel, officially opened its doors to guests. Star Chef Park of Woori Mountain Restaurant

To offer guests the most authentic Korean cuisine, the hotel has invited Chef Park (Mr. Park), who came all the way from South Korea, to serve as the head chef. A native of Daejeon, South Korea, Chef Park is a heavyweight figure in Korean cuisine worldwide. Before joining the Sanya Shanhai Tian Marriott Hotel, he worked at Yunke Ginza in Tokyo’s Ginza district—the only Michelin two-star Korean restaurant in Asia at the time. From 2014 to 2016, the restaurant he led was ranked on the Michelin two-star list for three consecutive years. As is well known, Michelin ratings represent the pinnacle of the culinary world, and a restaurant’s rating is determined by numerous “food inspectors” tasting the food, 12 visits per year, and evaluation by the Michelin headquarters. With over 16 years of culinary experience, Chef Park has also worked at international chain hotels in Seoul, South Korea, such as The Ritz-Carlton and Sheraton. His extensive experience, top-tier cooking skills, and innate pursuit of culinary excellence are vividly embodied in this Korean chef.

Mr. Wang from the northeast and his wife were among the first guests to visit Woori Mountain Restaurant today. After their meal, he told the restaurant manager: “We’ve been to Korea twice, but we never expected to enjoy such authentic Korean barbecue and bibimbap while vacationing in Sanya. The restaurant faces the blue sea, giving us the feeling of being on vacation in Jeju Island, Korea. And the Korean chef can even greet us in Chinese. After chatting with him, I learned that he previously worked at a Michelin two-star restaurant where the per-person cost was around...1200RMB. Just thinking about it makes me feel so lucky to have chosen to eat Korean food here—it’s truly great value.”

Hotel F&B DirectorLouis Fornshared: “The old Shanhai Tian Hotel already had an excellent reputation for Korean cuisine. Now, we’ve inherited that legacy, elevated it, and introduced the premium Korean cuisine brand Woori Mountain from Marriott. We’re not only providing a diverse dining experience for guests vacationing in Sanya, but also fulfilling the culinary desires of local food lovers who love Korean cuisine. Korean food places great emphasis on freshness and marination: freshness depends on the quality of ingredients, and our beef is mostly imported Australian Wagyu—an uncommon find even in Korean restaurants—which ensures the best texture for grilling. Marination depends on, and is the ultimate test of, a chef’s skill. Our world-class Chef Park is a master with deep expertise in Korean cuisine. All the marinades at the restaurant are meticulously prepared by him, using carefully selected apples, pears, garlic, onions, and more, with strict control over the optimal marination time. We believe that under his leadership, we will be able to make Woori Mountain Restaurant a must-visit destination for food lovers across the city and even the entire island.”
