“Lao Lai Tea House,” originating from Taichung, began as a black tea stall named “Lao Lai Black Tea” at Taichung’s Second Market. In recent years, it has entered the hand-shaken drinks market, actively opening multiple branches in Taichung. This year, it finally expands northward—with a Taipei branch now open, Taipei residents can enjoy Lao Lai Black Tea without traveling all the way to Taichung.

Lao Lai Black Tea, known by many in Taichung, has a 40-year history. It uses high-quality tea leaves to brew its black tea and replaces fructose with natural cane sugar—healthy and not overly sweet. In addition to the classic Lao Lai Black Tea, the shop’s signature drink is “Soy Aroma Black Tea,” where the perfect ratio of soy milk and black tea is carefully crafted. Its unique flavor is loved by many customers and is a must-order when visiting.

Lao Lai Tea House already has 15 branches in Taichung and officially expanded north to Taipei earlier this year. The store features an old-fashioned style that is full of nostalgia yet retains a sense of quality—it’s truly distinctive. Aside from the Taipei branch, Lao Lai Tea House also plans to expand to Tainan, Changhua, and Yunlin. No need to make a special trip to Taichung just to have Lao Lai Black Tea anymore.
