Riverside houseboats, resembling ink-wash landscape paintings, allow travelers to stay in a scene straight out of a poem, immersing themselves in the Hangzhou scenery of spring waters, blue skies, and resting on a boat while listening to the rain.

The Fuchun River Houseboat Hotel is built on the shores of the Fuchun River in Jiande, Hangzhou, about 5 kilometers east of Meicheng Ancient Town, floating on the western side of a 30-acre lake.

The design concept of the houseboat hotel originates from the aquatic tribe — the Jiu Xing fishermen — who lived here during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It is created based on their unique houseboat culture, positioning the houseboats among riverside woods, with two-thirds of the boat body floating on the lake surface.

The breathtaking lake and mountain scenery before your eyes resembles an ink-wash landscape painting, and the famous original painting “Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains” was depicted based on the scenery of this very place.

Each houseboat covers an area of about 50 square meters and is equipped with modern facilities and decor. The minimalist style doesn’t compromise on quality, with an abundance of wooden furniture complementing the stunning outdoor landscape.
