Every April, the romantic “April snow” begins to fall across Taiwan as floss silk trees and tung trees bloom, their petals fluttering gracefully. Families can enjoy a lovely picnic while admiring the blossoms and spending quality time together.

The 2019 Taoyuan Hakka Tung Blossom Festival, themed “Flowers Blooming in Hidden Paradise,” not only featured the largest tung blossom installation art in Taiwan combined with a site-specific theater at Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station, but also included many special activities, inviting travelers to come and admire the beautiful April snow in Taoyuan.

This year’s specially curated hidden gems include three major highlight events: the “Tung Blossom Picnic Party” at Gan’s Castle, the whimsical “Tung Blossom Singing and Rhyme Recital Competition,” and the Hakka musical “The Mischievous Monkey King,” performed in a blend of Hakka and Mandarin.

Free shuttle buses are available every Saturday and Sunday, taking visitors to various tung blossom trails and hidden spots for hiking and leisure activities. Everyone is welcome to “bloom” with us in Taoyuan.
