Starting April 2019, there’s one more famous Japanese eatery serving delicacies in Taiwan.

"Edogawa Unagi Rice" from Kyoto is one of Japan’s well-known unagi rice restaurants.
Established in 1952, it has been around for over 60 years.
It officially opened its first store in Taiwan on Zhongshan North Road, a prime spot for Japanese cuisine, on April 17.

It currently has branches in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Fukuoka.

The Zhongshan store is its first location in Taiwan.
It is said that more branches will be added in the future.
Stay tuned and look forward to it.

The interior of the restaurant is bright and spacious.
Even before eating, your mood lifts just by being there.

The eel served here is freshly caught and prepared every morning.

The grilling technique has been brought directly from Japan to Taiwan.
All the dishes are hand-prepared by Japanese chefs.

The eel is first grilled until white, then steamed.
Finally, it is glazed with sauce and grilled again.
This intricate cooking method helps remove excess fat.
It is touted as “fluffy Edogawa-style grilled eel.”
That’s what makes it so light and delicious.

The most popular dish at the restaurant is the “Unagi Rice Trio.”
A set for three people to share is priced at NT$1,650.
There is also an individual sharing set for NT$550.
