Thailand — recently announced that the previously extended free visa-on-arrival, which was due to end at the end of April, will now be extended until the end of October 2019, saving you 2,000 Thai baht right at departure !

Thailand’s visa-on-arrival is the most commonly used visa for travelers visiting the country, costing approximately NT$1,900, allowing a 15-day stay, which is very convenient. Thailand also implemented a policy in late 2018 offering free visa-on-arrival for travelers from 21 countries to boost tourism.

Thailand grants visa-on-arrival exemptions to travelers from a total of 21 countries, including Taiwan. Originally set to expire on April 30, 2019, the Thai Cabinet has approved an extension of this visa exemption policy until October 31, 2019. Friends planning to travel to Thailand this summer, don’t hesitate — just go for it !

Additionally, a special reminder for those planning to apply for a visa-on-arrival: due to the exemption, there will inevitably be long queues at major airports in Thailand, which may take some time. If you wish to avoid the extra wait when entering the country, you can also pay NT$1,200 in advance to apply for a paper visa at the Thai Trade and Economic Office.
