After photography fans in central and southern Taiwan chased the Chiayi sunset in mid-March, the beautiful Taipei sunset alignment has now made its appearance. According to the Sunset Forecast from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Central Weather Bureau, sections such as Emei Street in Taipei City (west of Xining South Road) and Zhongxiao East & West Roads (west of the Xinsheng Elevated Highway) will respectively showcase this phenomenon from April 29 to May 3 and from May 2 to May 6 — a total of eight consecutive days in Taipei’s urban landscape.

The sunset alignment can be observed on clear evenings without cloud cover. Below are the recommended best viewing times:

Sunset alignment generally refers to the phenomenon where the setting sun appears poised at the end of a narrow street (or road) flanked by tall buildings or natural landforms. The sun is expected to reach the center of the street around the midpoint of the forecast window, though the exact moment it aligns visually in the center may vary slightly depending on your position along the street.

Although a sunset alignment is a beautiful sight, sometimes the sun's rays can still be quite strong. Be sure to have dark-tinted sunglasses handy to protect your eyes during extended viewing. Also, when observing the sunset on the street, pay close attention to traffic rules and your own safety.
