IG’s Latest Stunning Pink-Purple Hidden Gem: Budai Lotus Sea in Full Bloom

As the weather gets warmer, the water hyacinths near the Gangwei Gouxi Flood Detention Pond in Rende District, Tainan, have fully bloomed, covering the emerald green leaves. The violet-blue petals of the water hyacinths gather in abundant bloom, forming a vast pink-hued misty sea of flowers—magnificent and spectacular. It's the latest dreamy hidden gem to emerge on IG.

Water hyacinths, also known as water hyacinth or water hyacinth orchid, have bright pink-purple hues. Their hollow, bulbous leaf stems resemble gourds, allowing them to float on the water's surface. As a floating aquatic plant, they grow either on the water or in muddy areas. Their pale purple petals tinged with indigo are particularly eye-catching—elegant and delicate up close, vibrant and bold from afar.

The Gangwei Gouxi Flood Detention Pond is located near the border of Tainan, close to Kaohsiung and adjacent to the Chimei Museum. Generally, due to the small size of ponds, most water hyacinth seas in Taiwan are not very large. However, the Gangwei Gouxi Flood Detention Pond features an almost endless expanse, growing abundantly without restraint—as if a flower carpet has been laid across the pond wetlands. This rare and beautiful scene is enough to make anyone’s inner girl burst with joy.
