Starbucks' first wave of collaborative merchandise this summer has made a big splash, teaming up for the first time with the wildly popular American bag brand Vera Bradley to launch a total of six co-branded items, which will be available in limited quantities at all Taiwan stores starting May 7.

This collaboration brings Vera Bradley’s vibrant color palettes and playful, ever-changing patterns to life on Starbucks cups and memo boards. The lively, retro-inspired designs add a burst of summer cheer.

Vera Bradley was founded in 1982 by two friends, Patricia and Barbara. The designers noticed that most luggage on the market featured neutral and dull designs, so they began creating a series of colorful, personality-packed suitcases for women — later expanding the line to include various bags and accessories. Their unique sense of mix-and-match aesthetics, along with the vibrant colors and ever-changing patterns of their printed fabrics, resonated strongly with consumers. The brand became almost ubiquitous in the US, with nearly everyone owning one, and it frequently appears in popular American TV dramas.

For this collaboration between Vera Bradley and Starbucks, the designs feature either a glamorous amoeba-like motif (Paisley Pattern) composed of dots and curves, or cups adorned with blooming, vividly colored flowers set against a fresh sky blue — evoking the essence of midsummer. In addition to being sold at all physical Starbucks stores across Taiwan starting May 7, the items will also be available online via Starbucks’ ibon-mart and at Books.com.tw.
