Limited-time gorgeous floral seascape – alpine azaleas in breathtaking bloom

In May, when all kinds of flowers are in bloom, besides the golden shower trees and hydrangeas, the annual alpine azalea season also begins. From now until the end of May is the best time to view them. Hike up to admire the beautiful peaks of the Hehuan Mountain range and the enchanting alpine azaleas — a truly uplifting experience.

Every year in May, the azaleas on Hehuan Mountain burst into vibrant bloom as if bringing warmth along with them. Nestled beautifully among the mountains and pine trees, the azaleas create a picturesque scene.

The Hehuan Mountain range consists of Hehuan Main Peak, East Peak, North Peak, West Peak, Shimen Mountain, Shimen North Peak, and Hehuan Summit. Among them, East Peak stands steep and majestic, an imposing sight.

Hikers can start from behind the Songxue Lodge or the ski resort trailhead. Winding through Yushan bamboo grass, you’ll reach the summit with a sweeping panoramic view that includes Hehuan Summit, Shimen Mountain, and Hehuan Main Peak — offering an exceptional vantage point.

Walking along the mountain trails, you might even spot birds such as the yellow-browed tit or vinaceous rosefinch. Immerse yourself in the beauty nature has to offer.
