“Chishang” gets its name from being situated above Dapo Pond. Originally called Dapi or Dapi, Dapo is located to the east of Chishang and was once the largest lake in Taitung. Bring your family for a weekend getaway to Chishang!

Beulong Boulevard is a lush green paradise road without any utility poles. In addition to its stunning and expansive farmland views, it is also famous for the Beulong coffee advertisement and the Jin Chengwu Tree, making it one of Taitung’s most iconic attractions.

Spring plowing, summer tending, autumn harvest, and winter storage are essential rhythms of life for the people of Chishang. Located in the southern section of the Huatung Valley, Chishang sits in one of the broader areas of the valley. The water flowing from the surrounding mountains has carved out alluvial fans, and the soil here is rich and clayey — perfect for paddy farming. As such, Chishang is known as the homeland of rice. The Chishang Rice brand was established here, and its iconic rice paddies have gained widespread fame.

Dapo Pond Scenic Area, located to the east of Chishang, is an important inland lake formed on a faulted landmass due to earthquakes. It is also a rich ecological wetland landscape. After the rain clears, clouds and mist drift over the pond, giving Dapo Pond a dreamy, hazy beauty.

During the winter fallow periods of the second and first crop seasons, local farmers in Chishang plant cosmos or rapeseed flowers to maintain soil fertility. This scenic spot is in Qingfeng Village, with the Tianzhong Bogong Temple on the right side — a key spiritual site for the Chishang community.
