Tainan is the real capital of drinks — the birthplace of five major chain bubble tea brands

Tainan, known as the food capital, is one of the favorite cities among foodies, but many don’t know that many well-known tea beverage chains in Taiwan originated here. The Facebook page “Tainan. Dian Tainan.” recently compiled a list of famous bubble tea shops from Tainan, sparking much discussion among netizens.

1. Hanlin Tea House

Established in 1986, Hanlin Tea House, along with Chun Shui Tang, was among the first tea shops in Taiwan to develop bubble milk tea. The shop offers fragrant and rich scholar’s tea, making it one of the favorite tea shops for many overseas visitors.

2. Ching Shui Fu Quan

Founded in 1987, Ching Shui Fu Quan set up its first cold drink station on the sidewalk of Jinhua Market in Tainan City. In recent years, its branches have expanded across Taiwan. Its collaboration with Sanrio to release special drink cups also gained great popularity.

3. 50Lan

The well-known northern chain 50 Lane was established in 1994. \Its most popular drink, “No. 1” – Spring Tea with tapioca pearls, popping boba, and coconut jelly, is the signature offering at 50Lan bubble tea shops.
