The Rio Olympics may be over, but the public’s enthusiasm for sports hasn’t faded. So what is the coolest, trendiest, and most comprehensive sport out there right now? “Triathlon,” a sport that gets your adrenaline pumping just hearing about it, is undoubtedly the top contender. In the U.S. alone, over 480,000 people participate in triathlons, and globally, there are more than a thousand various triathlon events held each year. Now, the first “EMBA Triathlon” has attracted 80 future business elites from institutions such as Renmin University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and National Taiwan University to gather in Taiwan, taking on both mountains and seas together.
Over the mountains and beyond the seas, there’s a group of real triathletes.
If going to the gym has become as common as a home-cooked stir-fry, then triathlon is the full seafood banquet. Known as the “ultimate test of human physical limits,” it’s not just about excelling in one discipline. The “triathlon,” combining swimming, cycling, and long-distance running, features a long race course and high difficulty—only those who complete it within the allotted time can truly be called “triathletes.” After all, something that is “steamed without getting soft, boiled without getting hot, hammered without flattening, or stir-fried without bursting” is just a “tough pea.” But what kind of unyielding willpower and resilience does a true “triathlete” need? It makes you wonder even more how these business moguls will perform on the field—exciting to see what they’ll bring to the table.
Our journey is not just to the arena, but also to the stars and seas.
One of the most appealing aspects of the “triathlon” is its close connection with nature. While people often admire landscapes from afar, the most beautiful scenery is reserved for the brave explorers. Starting on September 3rd and spanning four days, the athletes of the first “EMBA Triathlon” will swim across Taiwan’s most dreamlike Sun Moon Lake, cycle up to Wuling—the highest point on Taiwan’s roads at 3,275 meters—and trek through the magnificent Taroko Gorge. Embrace nature through sweat, and let the stunning and breathtaking beauty fill your heart with every breath and glance.
The first “EMBA Triathlon” is hosted by the National Taiwan University EMBA Outdoor Sports Association, with Samsung Galaxy as the special partner for this event. Throughout the athletes’ challenge of the three extreme disciplines, they will carry the Note7 to swim across Sun Moon Lake, capturing water-level photos and using the S Pen for recording; they will wear the Gear 360 to complete the entire Wuling cycling leg, capturing 360-degree 4K HD footage and live-streaming the panoramic beauty; and they will also wear the Gear Fit2 during the Taroko marathon, using S Health to track their route and performance.
Ideals and action, perseverance and transcendence—stay tuned to this first “EMBA Triathlon,” where inspiration meets action, and witness how business elites set the trend in sports.
