The Hello Kitty layered cake is too adorable—Japan’s newest hot souvenir

Sanrio characters have collaborated with Katanukiya (カタヌキヤ), a specialty shop for sculpted layered cakes, to launch five adorable three-dimensional layered cake designs. In addition to the popular Hello Kitty, there are also designs featuring My Melody, Tarepanda, and more—extremely cute.

The Sanrio collaboration layered cakes only need to be cut along the designated lines to reveal the adorable Sanrio characters. Katanukiya uses an imported high-pressure water cutting machine from France to perfectly slice the cakes into various cute patterns, making them Japan’s latest hot souvenir.

This collaboration has resulted in five different layered cake designs. In addition to everyone’s favorite character, Hello Kitty, other characters such as My Melody, Tarepanda, Pompompurin, and Maimai also come to life as three-dimensional layered cakes—so cute you won’t want to eat them.
