Mitsui's first large-scale shopping complex in Taiwan – LaLaport opens in 2021

This Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport in Nangang is part of the larger Nangang C3 Development Project, which has a total investment of 40 billion NTD. Designed by the architect team of Y.C. Lee, upon completion it will include office towers, a performance plaza, a venue capable of hosting eSports competitions, large sky bridges, and elevated observation facilities. It is a highly significant and sizable development in the Nangang, Neihu, and Xizhi areas.

Out of this, a 40,000-ping (approx. 132,000 square meters) shopping mall will be operated by Mitsui Fudosan, featuring Japan’s popular large-scale shopping mall brand, LaLaport. In addition to integrating Japanese-style elements, the project aims to create a distinct shopping mall experience not yet seen in Taipei, building a large family-friendly complex that offers an all-in-one retail and entertainment destination.

There are already 17 LaLaport malls in Japan. In Taiwan, besides the Nangang Taipei location, there will also be a second Taiwanese location in East District, Taichung. With the introduction of Japanese-style shopping, lifestyle concepts, and community revitalization, along with the successive openings of three Mitsui Outlet Parks in Taiwan (Taipei Linkou, Taichung Taichung Port, and Tainan High-Speed Rail Special Zone), these developments have garnered significant attention from Taiwanese consumers.

The 40,000-plus ping Nangang LaLaport shopping mall is expected to host 250 brand outlets, designed around the concept of “The Gate to Diversity,” aiming to create a diverse, world-connected shopping experience.
