Founded on the traditional craft of “Nara sun-drying” and now a representative brand of quality Japanese lifestyle, Midoriya Nakagawa Store will hold a pop-up at Huashan 1914 Creative Park from May 25 (Sat) to June 23 (Sun). A brand many travelers visit during trips to Japan, it’s not to be missed for fans of Japanese-style design.

With a history of 300 years, Midoriya Nakagawa Store has upheld the artisanal quality passed down through generations amid the tides of change, extracting new elements from tradition. To date, it has developed numerous brands and product lines rooted in home and daily life, full of functional beauty—and is also a prime example of brand management that harmoniously blends tradition with modernity and evolves with the times.

Revitalize traditional Japanese crafts to create the next century.

“Our goal is for Japan to still be known as a craft powerhouse 100 years from now.” – Atsuo Nakagawa (13th President of Midoriya Nakagawa Store)

Starting in 2009, with the vision of “revitalizing Japan’s traditional crafts,” Midoriya Nakagawa began offering business consulting services. It aims to energize local industries by adapting traditional crafts into designs well-suited for modern life.

The pop-up space includes brands and shops such as the century-old Echizen lacquerware store “Urushi-rin-do,” the hand-sieved washi paper brand “Yamatsugi Seishi,” and Hasamiyaki pottery “HASAMI,” among others. A total of 18 key supported brands have gathered at the Taipei pop-up to meet consumers in Taiwan. Visitors can closely experience the meticulousness and ingenuity of Japanese crafts, as well as the uncompromising philosophy and dedication of the artisans.

Region-limited poetic fortune slips from Midoriya Nakagawa can also be collected all in one go at this pop-up. Also featured are Japan-region limited poetic slips, which transform local specialties into small, charming fortunes, with content written in local dialects—adorable and thought-provoking.
