Many people love traveling to Thailand, not only to experience the warmth of Southeast Asia but also to enjoy its diverse cultures and cuisines. Now, to enhance the quality of travel for visitors, Thailand is planning to impose a tourism tax on inbound travelers. This policy is expected to take effect in as soon as six months.

The tourism tax will not exceed 100 Thai baht (approximately NT$100), and the revenue will be used for health and medical insurance for foreign visitors as well as improving attraction facilities, thereby enhancing visitor security and the overall travel experience.

Thailand’s priority in introducing the tourism tax is to improve the travel environment. However, in the event of an accident, the tax will also provide safety coverage for tourists. The plan to implement this levy is expected to begin in as soon as six months, but the exact amount and method of collection are still under discussion.
