The number of Taiwanese travelers visiting South Korea continues to grow, surpassing one million in 2018. For the first time, global cruise brand Princess Cruises has partnered with the Korea Tourism Organization to create a special “Korea-Themed Cruise” aboard the Majestic Princess.

The “Korea-Themed Cruise” allows passengers to experience authentic Korean culture right on the ship before even arriving in Korea, including trying on traditional Korean hanbok, making hanji crafts, and attending Korean travel lectures.

This year’s only Korea-themed voyage will set sail from Keelung Port on June 8 for the first time, taking travelers to Nagasaki in Japan, and Busan and Yeosu in South Korea for a 7-day cruise adventure, offering a taste of the urban culture in both Japan and Korea.

Rather than visiting the typical tourist spots frequented by most Taiwanese, this itinerary specially selects Busan, rich in harbor charm, and Yeosu, which hosted the World Expo in 2012. The Korea Tourism Organization Taipei Branch also hopes that through this collaboration, Taiwanese travelers can “fully enjoy and deeply explore Korea,” gaining a better understanding of local culture and appreciating the beauty across Korea.

Additionally, Korean celebrity Park Jae-jung, who participated in the Korean reality show “Cruise Craving” last year, happily shared his personal experience of an 8-day cruise journey.

This voyage specially introduces four exclusive Korea-themed highlights, transforming the Majestic Princess into a floating mini-Korea where passengers can immerse themselves in rich Korean culture right on board!

Free traditional Korean hanbok experience activity
Take passengers on a journey back in time, with costumes and accessories selected based on gender, age, and status to experience the most traditional aspects of Korean culture.

Hanji paper, soft yet durable, is said to last up to a thousand years. During the trip, passengers can try crafting ornaments from hanji, using unique artisan techniques to create customized mirrors, jewelry boxes, and coasters—blending traditional essence with aesthetic appeal.
