The Yeongdo Bridge, connecting the mainland district of Nampo-dong and Yeongdo Island, was built during the Japanese colonial period to transport people and was Busan’s first sea-crossing bridge.

Designed as a single-leaf bascule bridge to allow vessels traveling between South Port and North Port to pass, one end of the bridge lifts when medium to large ships need to go through.

In the past, the Yeongdo Bridge would open and close at least twice a day, and up to seven times. The novel sight of the bridge standing open in midair attracted many visitors, making it one of Busan’s iconic landmarks.

The fixed daily bridge-lifting time is from 14:00 to 14:15, with the lifting process lasting 15 minutes. Travelers hoping to snap great photos should time it right！
