EVA Air’s surprise strike cancels 108 flights—travelers heading abroad should stay alert

Yesterday afternoon, labor-management negotiations between EVA Air and its staff broke down, leading to a sudden strike during the meeting. Numerous flights were forced to cancel, affecting many passengers. On the 20th, EVA Air had 19 flights canceled, impacting over 4,000 people, and travel agencies responded with emergency measures.

As of the 21st, this strike has led to the suspension of 108 flights, including those from Taipei to multiple destinations such as Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Today, 79 flights are expected to be canceled, 17 on Saturday the 22nd, and 12 the day after tomorrow.

Update in the evening of the 21st: EVA Air hascanceled a total of 117 flights, with at least 505 flights canceled up to June 26. Additionally, no new bookings will be accepted from now until June 29. EVA Air is gradually assisting passengers in transferring to other flights, and flight change updates are also being sent via SMS. Travelers are advised to pay close attention to EVA Air’s latest flight change announcements. It is estimated that around 20,000 passengers will be affected.

The strike is expanding. Passengers planning to travel abroad on EVA Air in the near future are advised to contact their original ticketing agencies for follow-up arrangements, including rebooking, ticket refunds or changes, and compensation.
