Free tastings of eight must-try delicacies at Peipiliang & a fun bamboo shoot culture challenge game — a must-do for families!

Hot summer has arrived, and temperatures above 30°C can really dampen your appetite. But the green bamboo shoots that thrive in summer are perfect for cooling down and beating the heat. There's nothing better on a sweltering day than a refreshing cold bamboo shoot salad. This year, Guilan has launched its first-ever "Summer Solstice Cooling Life Festival" to promote the idea that summer is the season for eating bamboo shoots. The event features special “bamboo shoot culture” fun activities, and there are also plenty of food stalls for you to sample.

The “Summer Solstice Cooling Life Festival” will be held from June 21 to June 23 in the Peipiliang Historic Block. The event includes three major activity zones: “Cooling Playground,” “Cooling Stroll,” and “Cooling Connections.” There are fun challenge activities on-site, including learning about bamboo shoot knowledge, tips for picking bamboo shoots, as well as demonstrations by bamboo shoot peeling experts on how to peel them, plus you can taste refreshing cold bamboo shoot salads.

The event also invites local specialty food vendors such as Fuda Tong Tea House, Lao Jijian, Taihe Cake Shop, Yifei Zai Barbecue, Beerhead Brewery, Daidai Coffee, Ganxin Coffee, and Historic Roast. Moreover, those who complete the challenge activities can receive vouchers for specialty snacks and great gifts from the festival’s featured stalls.
