Taiwan’s Taoyuan Guanyin district cultivates many lotuses, and summer is their peak blooming season. The 2019 Taoyuan Lotus Festival takes place from June 29 to August 25. In addition to admiring the beautiful sight of numerous blooming lotuses, visitors can also enjoy the rare opportunity to ride a giant water lily and “float on water.”

Native to the Amazon River basin, the giant water lily can grow up to 3 meters in diameter. Its large leaves have buoyancy, and when an acrylic or plastic basin is placed on its leaf, it can support a weight of about 150 kilograms—an amazing and fun experience.

Located in Guanyin, Taoyuan, Kangzhuang Lotus Garden opens its many giant water lilies to visitors for riding experiences from July to September each year. For just NT$50 per ride, you can capture the feeling of walking on water like a martial artist. There are also artistic installations like flower swings that make you feel like you're in a fairy tale.
