It’s summer vacation season again, and to encourage travelers to use public transportation, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has launched a half-price discount on electronic ticketing for “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” routes from July 1 to September 30. During this period, passengers can also enjoy special offers at some merchants along the tourist routes.

Taiwan Tourist Shuttle bus routes connect major domestic transportation hubs and popular tourist attractions, making them one of the essential means of transport for independent travelers. With over 4 million passengers annually, and considering the peak travel season during summer, the half-price discount using electronic ticketing on the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle is being offered again this year to encourage more people to take advantage of it.

This summer, a total of 38 Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes are offering the half-price discount, covering many famous tourist destinations such as Sun Moon Lake, Xitou, Alishan, and Kenting, all of which can be reached via these shuttle services.

Taking the popular Kenting Express route as an example during the summer vacation, the original one-way fare from the Zuoying HSR Station to Kenting using an electronic ticket is352NT dollars, but during the promotion period it’s only176NT dollars. Traveling with family or friends round-trip can save you a considerable amount on transportation, while also helping you avoid traffic jams and parking hassles—making it both economical and convenient.

In addition to the half-price discount on electronic ticketing for the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle, the Tourism Bureau has also coordinated with merchants at attractions along the shuttle routes to offer discounts on goods. After taking the shuttle, travelers can request a ride certificate from the driver and show it at participating shops to enjoy special deals.
