Not just Blue Cave wonders – here are the must-visit Instagrammable spots for island hopping in Penghu

The crystal-clear blue sea is a defining feature of Penghu, and with its unique geology and cultural heritage, the area boasts numerous refreshing summer-like attractions that are picture-perfect from any angle. One such spot is Wang’an’s Wang’kou Beach, where an arc-shaped bay stretches nearly 1 kilometre long, pristine and unpolluted, offering a highly soothing experience.

Wang’kou Beach is located at the southern tip of Wang’an Island and is a shell sand beach. In the past, local fishing boats would dock here to dry, mend, and cast nets on the beach, which is how it got its name. Nowadays, there are no longer any boats moored here, and it has become a paradise for local children and tourists to splash around.

Wang’kou Beach is serene and pristine, with clear waters and bright, fine white sand. Spending a night on Wang’an reveals different beauties during the day and night. The water color in this area changes multiple times a day, earning it the playful nickname "Cocktail Beach."

Additionally, Wang’an Island is a nesting site for the endangered green sea turtle, currently one of the few remaining stable nesting grounds in Taiwan. In 1995, the beaches of Wang’an Island were designated as a wildlife protection area. From May to October each year, turtle tracks can be spotted on the sands.

Wang’kou Beach was originally the largest traditional fishing boat docking area in Wang’an. Today, aside from swimming, playing in the water, sightseeing, listening to the waves, and stargazing, the traditional fishing activity of “Qian Gu” is also a top choice for visitors.
