Since its official establishment in May 2018, STARLUX Airlines has been actively recruiting and training cabin crew, ground staff, and flight teams from both domestic and international talent pools. With Taoyuan International Airport as its hub, the airline plans to launch flights by the end of January 2020. Recently, it was reported that STARLUX Airlines has successively obtained air rights for popular routes including Japan and Thailand, with international routes from Taichung also being one of its operational priorities.

STARLUX Airlines is expected to officially commence operations by the end of January 2020.
The airline has currently secured air rights for 11 regular routes, including 8 to Japan: Taoyuan–Okinawa, Fukuoka, Osaka, Narita, Nagoya, Sendai, Sapporo, and Hakodate; 3 to Thailand: Taoyuan–Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket; as well as 2 charter flight routes: Taichung–Narita and Osaka.

The 11 regular routes include flights to popular cities such as Tokyo’s Narita Airport.
In addition to these 13 confirmed routes, there are also routes between Taoyuan, Taichung, and several cities in Vietnam awaiting approval from the Ministry of Transportation. In its initial phase, STARLUX will focus on flights to Japan and Southeast Asia. Due to initially having only three aircraft, the number of destinations will be limited. More destinations will be added gradually according to aircraft delivery schedules, with future plans including transoceanic routes to and from North America.

In the future, the airline will also consider applying for routes to Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia, as well as other popular destinations like Australia.
STARLUX Airlines has planned to introduce 10 new A321neo aircraft from French manufacturer Airbus. The first aircraft was personally flown back to Taiwan by Chairman Chang Kuo-wei in October, with subsequent planes to be delivered gradually. The airline also plans to steadily expand its fleet: by the end of 2021, introducing 5 A350-900s and 12 A350-1000s; reaching a fleet size of 27 by the end of 2024; and growing to 50 aircraft by the end of 2030. Ticket sales are expected to begin after obtaining the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in December this year.
