Typhoon Danas may form soon — watch out for heavy rain starting Wednesday

A low-pressure system east of the Philippines shows signs of strengthening into a tropical depression, with a chance it could develop into a mild typhoon. However, further observation is needed to monitor adjustments in its circulation structure.

Over the next two days, most areas across Taiwan will be mostly cloudy to sunny, but with increasing moisture, the likelihood of afternoon thunderstorms will rise. Localized short-lived thunderstorms are possible in mountainous regions and nearby plains in the afternoon.

Temperatures across Taiwan are generally above 33–34°C, with the Huatung Valley, southeastern Taiwan, and Taipei prone to temperatures exceeding 36°C. UV levels in all regions can easily reach excessive or dangerous levels, so remember to stay hydrated and use sun protection during outdoor activities.

The path of Tropical Depression TD10 may develop into this year’s fifth typhoon, “Danas.” The Pacific High will determine its trajectory. If the high weakens, it may come relatively close to Taiwan, reaching its closest point to the island on Wednesday and Thursday.
 
Currently, due to a lack of complete observational data, different simulation paths are shown by various meteorological agencies, but all indicate trajectories not far from Taiwan proper. Continued monitoring of changes is necessary.
