A tropical depression located east of the Philippines developed into a mild tropical storm at 2 PM on the 16th, becoming this year’s fifth typhoon, Danas. It is expected to move northwestward, with a marine typhoon warning possibly being issued as early as 23:00 tonight. The public should stay alert for heavy rainfall.

The central pressure of Typhoon Danas is 995 hPa, with maximum sustained winds of 18 meters per second and maximum gusts of 25 meters per second. The radius of the 7-level wind zone is 150 kilometers.

There is a very high probability that the 7-level gale-force wind circle of the typhoon will impact the area.
At 2 PM on the 16th, Typhoon Danas was located in the Pacific Ocean at 17 degrees north latitude and 125 degrees east longitude, moving westward at 11 kilometers per hour. The weather bureau predicts Danas will head northwestward and will have a certain degree of impact across various parts of Taiwan. A marine typhoon warning could be issued as early as the evening of the 16th, and there is no exclusion of a land typhoon warning being issued on the 17th and 18th.
