Typhoon Danas, No. 5, is currently located about 370 kilometers southeast of Eluanbi. The Central Weather Bureau has issued both maritime and land typhoon alerts. Classes and work have been suspended in the afternoon in areas such as Green Island and Orchid Island, and the land alert has now expanded to Hualien.

According to the latest meteorological data, Typhoon Danas has slightly shifted northward over the past three hours, reducing the threat to Pingtung. Its center is currently over the sea southeast of Eluanbi, moving north-northwest, with a continued trend of moving further north. Its storm circle has entered the Bashi Channel, posing a threat to Taitung and Hualien.

Typhoon Danas is currently moving north-northwest and shows an increasing trend toward the north.
Danas is currently moving at a speed of 17 km/h in a north-northwest direction. It is predicted that at 17:00 on the 18th, its center will be about 130 kilometers southeast of Hualien over the sea. The Central Weather Bureau has currently issued land typhoon alerts for areas including Hengchun Peninsula, Pingtung, Taitung, and Hualien. Whether a typhoon day off will be given depends on the wind and rain forecast published by the bureau as a reference indicator.

According to the rainfall forecast map released by the weather bureau, rainfall in Hualien, Taitung, and mountainous areas could reach up to 350 mm, the Hengchun Peninsula and Nantou up to 250 mm, the Jiadongnan area and Kaohsiung up to 200 mm, and the central and northern regions may see up to 150 mm.
According to the standards, if a typhoon’s storm radius is expected to affect an area within four hours with average winds of force 7 or above, gusts of force 10 or above, or total rainfall of 350 mm within 24 hours, then suspension of work and classes may be issued. The actual decision is subject to the regulations of each county and city authority.
Typhoon Yutu may form a double typhoon attack! The Fujiwhara effect cannot be ruled out.
