This year’s food exhibition will be held from July 26 to 29 at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. The organizer, the Taiwan Visitors Association, has worked with central government ministries, local counties and cities, and F&B businesses across Taiwan to present an exhibition of “national-level standards.” It also promotes international marketing, hoping to allow travelers from around the world to discover, explore, and get to know the diverse facets of Taiwanese cuisine.

In 2018, the Taiwan Gourmet Food Exhibition introduced a brand-new layout featuring five major zones: Gourmet Taiwan, Land of Taiwan, Delicious Moments, International Cuisine, and Culinary Exploration. This created a new image for Taiwan as a kingdom of food, successfully attracting nearly 140,000 visitors. In addition, the organizers designated August as “Taiwan Gourmet Month” and partnered with hotel and travel agencies to create a new festive atmosphere, successfully drawing in international tourists to visit Taiwan.

Taiwanese cuisine is formed by the fusion of dishes from different regions and, over time, has incorporated characteristics from around the world, evolving into a uniquely distinctive “Taiwan flavor.” This year’s Taiwan Gourmet Food Exhibition not only continues the five major zones but also introduces a new exhibition direction that delves into introducing Taiwanese cuisine. It plans to create a “Taiwan Gourmet Pavilion,” focusing on the evolution of Taiwanese cuisine. Taiwanese chefs will also be invited to demonstrate cooking and interact with visitors on-site, allowing the public to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s food culture.

In line with the Tourism Bureau’s 2019 promotional theme “Township Stroll Year,” classic towns will be invited to participate and jointly create the “Spotlight Taiwan – Township Gourmet Pavilion.” It is expected to showcase the evolution and specialties of food from various townships and sell delicacies from Taiwan’s small towns, further promoting the beauty of Taiwan’s townships.
