Unforgettable Golden Flower Carpets in the Valley: The Three Major Daylily Festivals in Eastern Taiwan Begin

Every summer, the daylily festivals in eastern Taiwan, with their vast golden flower carpets and healing scenery, always attract many visitors. Especially from late July to September, the most important event is the blooming of the sea of daylilies. Popular daylily viewing spots include Liushishi Mountain and Chike Mountain in Hualien, and Taimali in Taitung, where you can see the beautiful yellow-orange sea of flowers.

This year’s Hualien Daylily Festival runs from August 3 to September 15, including the Liushishi Mountain in Fuli Township with its dozens of hectares of flower seas, and Chike Mountain in Yuli Township. The famous “Chike Three Scenes” feature three black volcanic rocks nestled among the daylily fields, the uniquely shaped Thousand-Ton Stone Turtle as a natural landmark, and the Wang Family Ancestral House, which has a history of over 40 years.

The Daylily Mountain in Taimali, Taitung, is also a renowned flower-viewing destination. Sitting at an altitude of about 1,340 meters with long hours of sunlight, the Taimali Daylily Festival kicks off earlier than others on July 27 and continues until September 15, making up the most popular one-and-a-half-month viewing period. Beyond the daylily season, visitors can enjoy different floral landscapes throughout the four seasons.

During the Taimali Daylily Festival, in addition to flower viewing, you can also join the Taitung highlight event — the Luye Hot Air Balloon Festival. On the first day of the festival, July 27, a light sculpture concert was held at the Taimali Sunrise Park in Taimali Township. After admiring the flower sea, enjoy nature and music under the starry sky, soaking in the most beautiful starlight concert.
