When it comes to Beitou, everyone immediately thinks of hot springs, but few know that besides hot springs, this place also boasts rich history and diverse ecological resources.

The "40-gun battery" located in the Hushan community of Beitou District was originally a gun position belonging to the Air Force. In the early days, the national military stationed anti-aircraft artillery units here to protect national security. However, after the Air Force withdrew in 1994, the barracks on the site were subsequently demolished. Since 2015, Hushan village chief Li Qiuxia, retired soldier He Chaolun, and the Taipei City Government have worked together to renovate the original site and restore its former military ambiance.

In addition to its long military-related history, the Hushan community also features charming pig-shaped ceramic figurines on the walls of the Ludi settlement, telling the story of local agriculture and animal husbandry over the past century. The pathways in the settlement are imprinted with the footprints of native wildlife, adding educational value.

Additionally, the terraced field landscape between the completed Ludi Trail in 2018 and Hushan Elementary School not only provides resting and shaded spaces for visitors but also incorporates food, agriculture, ecology, and environmental education. The terraced fields are planted with rice and sunflowers, which not only support daily needs but also create a beautiful landscape painting.
