On August 26, locatedin NanzhangEconomicDevelopment Zone, theHubeiDongzhang Industrial Company’s Chu Mulberry Silk Expo Park AAA-level scenic area officially opened. This isChina’sfirst themed characteristic industrial tourism destination centered around “Chu Mulberry Culture,” as well asHubeiProvince’s first silk industry tourism project and mulberry silkworm cultural tourism destination. Leaders at all levels jointly pressed the launch button to inaugurate the “Chu Mulberry Silk Culture Expo Park.”
The ancient Chu homeland’s mulberry groves are lush, and the silk whispers softly along the Jing Mountains and Zhang River. Relying onNanzhangCounty’s long-standing historical and cultural traditions in sericulture, and featuring Chu Mulberry Culture as its highlight, the park centers around an industrial sightseeing and experience garden. It includes a mulberry and silkworm culture garden, a Chu Kingdom Mulberry Silkworm Silk Museum, and a mulberry silkworm silk industrial production area. Here, visitors can witness the ancient silk merchants’ desert journeys, millennia-old mulberry trees of the Chu land, modern silk reeling and silk production processes, explore the historical roots of mulberry, silkworms, and silk, and also taste mulberry leaf tea, mulberry wine, mulberry paste, mulberry jam, mulberry leaf noodles, and other health-focused mulberry-derived products. They can also experience the luxury and charm of silk products.
The core area of the Silk Expo Park is the Phase I project built to AAA-level scenic area standards based on the Dongzhang silk industry foundation. The next steps will focus on strengthening scenic area management, improving software development, continuously increasing tourism marketing and promotional efforts, enhancing brand operations and tourism service capabilities, intensifying event planning and execution, advancing the integration of local tourism resources, and attracting a wide range ofcitizens andtourists to stimulate the local tourism consumption market. At the same time, over the next three years, continued investment will advance the construction of the Chu Mulberry Experience Demonstration Park and Phase II of the Chu Mulberry Industry R&D Park, further promoting the Chu Mulberry Rural Complex Project in the direction of industrial poverty alleviation.

Tourism is a green, sunriseindustry — comprehensive, far-reaching, and highly catalytic — and has become a strategic pillar industry in national economic and social development. The “13th Five-Year Plan” period is a golden opportunity for accelerated development and a strategic key phase for transformation and upgrading in the national tourism sector. The features of the pan-era, plus-era, and creative-era are becoming increasingly distinct, requiring governments at all levels, all sectors of society, especially tourism authorities, to continuously innovate development thinking and transform development models in order to seize the initiative in growth.
Against this broad backdrop and trend in tourism development, the Chu Mulberry Silk Expo Park aims to promote industrial integration through the “tourism+” model, making new forms of tourism the most direct embodiment of driving development across industries. This project, presented in the form of a tourist attraction, integrates traditional and modern elements, productive and lifestyle features, as well as labor-intensive and knowledge-intensive characteristics. It holds the comparative advantage of “one industry thriving to boost a hundred others,” fostering coordinated development across primary, secondary, and tertiary industries and amplifying the comprehensive impact of tourism. This isChina’sfirst characteristic industrial tourism destination themed around “Chu Mulberry Culture,” as well asXiangyangCity’s first tertiary industry-integrated tourism destination, filling a gap inXiangyangThe gap in the operational presence of distinctive tourism industry entities.

Industrial integration must be deep, and distinctive tourism must have warmth. Economic development cannot do without tangible businesses, and industrial growth cannot do without leading enterprises. Under the favorable environment of the county's strong push torevitalizethe mulberry silk industry, the Chusang Silk Expo Park is a brand-new, fully integrated tourism project and also serves asHubeiDongzhang Industrial Co., Ltd.'s vehicle for green transformation. In the next step, through unremitting efforts, we will develop the Chusang Silk Expo Park into a “Chu Mulberry Cultural Tourism Destination,HubeiSilk Industry Hub,ChinaOrganic Valley Industry Pioneer Zone,XiangyangDistinctive Tourism Demonstration Site,NanzhangTransformation Zone for Targeted Poverty Alleviation Achievements”!
