Bike esports is a brand-new form of bicycle competition where bicycles are fixed onto specialized trainers, and computer software simulates actual road sections for riding. Originally, trainers were mainly used for daily training by professional cyclists. In recent years, as cycling has grown in popularity across China, trainers have also become tools for everyday training among cycling enthusiasts. The advantage of this equipment lies in its ability to simulate the gradients and resistance of real road sections through computer simulation, bringing the thrill of actual cycling. During the ride, cyclists can also monitor their own performance data as well as that of others on the same virtual route. On extremely hot, cold, rainy, or polluted days, using a trainer to complete set routes serves as a common and effective way for cycling enthusiasts to stay fit or train.
According to a representative from the event organizers, this is the first time such a competition is being held in Nanjing. Through this event, more consumers will learn about healthy and scientific ways to exercise. The organizers also hope to meet more partners in the sports industry during this global event and gradually promote bike esports to the world, allowing more people to enjoy the fun of sports while staying fit.
