Golden Earth Co., Ltd. has developed the three-hectare Date & Rice Field Food & Play Agritech Space (hereinafter referred to as “Date & Rice Field”) in Yuanshan, Yilan, as a friendly organic cultivation production area. In collaboration with renowned Taiwanese architect Chang Ching-Hua, and after five years of communication and design, they created Taiwan’s first building using CLT multi-layer solid wood structural engineered wood technology. The entire structure uses imported Japanese-finished cedar engineered wood, making it a new milestone in Taiwan’s architectural history.

To promote Yilan, the Date & Rice Field combines the region’s unique features—kumquats, rice fields, and pastoral scenery—with the most distinctive architecture in Taiwan and local cuisine.
During the initial planning of Date & Rice Field, to create the feeling of having a small river in front of one’s home, the site was specifically chosen near the headwaters of the Daxue Mountain spring and the Lanyang River. A spring-fed stream runs through the farm all year round, and from elevated areas, you can overlook Guishan Island, offering an exceptional location.

Date & Rice Field hired the team of renowned Taiwanese architect Chang Ching-Hua to construct Taiwan’s first building using Japanese CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) multi-layer solid wood structural engineered wood technology, making it the most beautiful “breathing” space in Taiwan.
Additionally, since 2014, Date & Rice Field has been communicating with architect Chang Ching-Hua about design concepts, proposing the idea and vision of creating a focal point for a place, a single building, and a single product—adding brilliance to Yuanshan, becoming a highlight of Yilan; and adding brilliance to Yilan, becoming a new highlight of Taiwan.
All cedar engineered wood components were shaped in Japan before being imported and assembled. The CLT method offers greater fire resistance, crack resistance, and durability compared to solid wood, and also enables curved beam and column designs that solid wood cannot achieve. Once completed, the entire building exudes the fragrance of cedar, providing a natural enjoyment of phytoncides.

Covering three hectares, the Date & Rice Field Food & Play Agritech Space has obtained full organic certification. It employs permaculture methods to grow organic fruits and vegetables, which are supplied for organic school lunches in Yilan’s primary and secondary schools. The produce is also available for online purchase and at the food & play space on the first floor.
To create differentiation, Date & Rice Field has specially partnered with the renowned Château Bel-Air winery in Bordeaux, France, established in 1627, to offer fine French red wines.

From now until the end of October, anyone who makes a reservation in advance for dining services at Date & Rice Field will receive a complimentary glass of Château Bel-Air series red wine with every set meal ordered.
