11Month2Day-12Day, the Sahara welcomed with warmth a50-strong Chinese player team. This was the first China-Morocco Sahara International Camping & Hiking Festival, organized by "Outdoor Big Players" and led by Zeng Hua, founder of Scale and known as the “Queen of the Outdoors.” It was also the largest group of Chinese outdoor enthusiasts to ever visit the Zagora region of Morocco.
The players set off from Beijing, traveled through Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, and the capital Rabat, crossed thousands of miles of desert, and successfully completed the most pristine Sahara camping and hiking experience in the Zagora direction. The event received high attention from the Moroccan local government. The Governor of Zagora Province, the Mayor of Zagora City, the Director of the Tourism Bureau, and other government officials warmly welcomed this high-level “Outdoor Big Players” group from China and held a grand welcoming ceremony. Amid the traditional performances and cuisine of the Sahara region, both sides engaged in friendly international exchanges and forged deep friendships. The organizers of the event, the "Outdoor Big Players" program team, also established their Sahara base—the player activity center—in the warm and beautiful town of Zagora.
"Outdoor Big Players" is anoriginaloutdoor reality showjointly launched earlier this year by Scale, LeSports, and Sportsbo Online. In the early stages of the show, through open auditions and outdoor challenges, it helps outdoor enthusiasts realize their outdoor dreams. The show also invites CCTV sports commentator Han Qiaosheng to join in, cheering on the playersonCALL,and providing commentary on their exciting performances. The contestants selected in the first two episodes of the show, with the support of the Scale Outdoor Dream Fund, realized their dreams of hiking in Arizona, USA, and running a marathon in Vancouver. This Sahara trip is the first large-scale international outdoor community exchange event organized by the program team and another step forward in making the show’s format closer to real outdoor experiences. The players left their footprints in the Sahara Desert through hiking and camping, witnessing the friendship between China and Morocco.
During this China-Morocco International Camping & Hiking Festival, the players not only experienced the warmth of the world’s largest desert, the Sahara, with their feet but also enjoyed desert camping, marveled at the breathtaking desert sunset, and—thanks to the support of local government 4x4 off-road vehicles—explored the thrill of driving through the sand dunes. The challenges and experiences of various outdoor lifestyles left a deep impression on the participants. Additionally, the route highlights of the event were numerous:the ancient imperial city of Fes, the romantically charming blue town of Chefchaouen, and the well-preserved ancient village of Aït Benhaddou all allowed the players to experience Morocco’s ancient cultural charm while enjoying outdoor adventures. At the same time, they experienced the charm of Moroccan ancient culture.
As the official equipment provider for the event, Scale’s range of products—including windbreakers, stretch jackets, and quick-dry functional shirts—received high praise and became the perfect gear for the players journeying through the Sahara.
It is reported that Morocco is one of the first African and Arab countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China.2016Earlier this year, China and Morocco established a strategic partnership, and Morocco granted visa-free treatment to Chinese citizens traveling to Morocco, opening up convenient access for Chinese players to explore Morocco. Following this China-Morocco International Camping & Hiking Festival, this international friendly exchange event will continue, allowing more Chinese players to experience a unique outdoor world in Morocco.
